Our Services
Patient Care
Here at West Grove Dental Surgery, our aim is to make you feel relaxed and welcome you into our calm and professional environment. Patient care is our priority and it is our goal to make sure your dental experience is as pleasant and beneficial as possible. If you are nervous about dental treatment, Nicola and her staff are friendly and approachable and are always available to listen and help with any concerns or queries you may have whilst visiting the surgery.
Routine Examinations
The most important aspect of dental care is regular examinations. Most people avoid dental appointments if they are not experiencing any pain, but routine examinations with a dentist can reveal many things that you cannot see yourself.
Routine Hygiene Appointments
The hygienist and therapist are both trained to help you look after your mouth by discussing cleaning techniques and diet advice. They are also both able to remove the hard tissue that builds up on your teeth, that contributes to the deterioration of your gums.
Radiography
X-rays are an essential part of a thorough dental examination. They show hidden decay, bone loss, buried teeth, cysts, abscesses, development abnormalities, joint problems, gum problems and many other conditions. All these benefit from early identification and treatment. X-rays are periodically retaken every 2 - 3 years.
Conscious Sedation
At West Grove Dental Surgery we treat numerous patients who are extremely nervous of having dental treatment, and who without the option of sedation have not been able to attend for any treatment. With our relaxed and friendly approach, we can listen to your concerns and discuss the options available to you. With the help of conscious sedation using relative analgesia, we have been able to help relax patients and reduce anxiety and fear, whilst you are also still able to cooperate with the dentist.
Cosmetic Dentistry
At West Grove Dental Surgery we offer a wide range of cosmetic dentistry.
Bridges: A dental bridge is a false tooth or teeth that are used to fill the gap left by a missing tooth or teeth. A bridge is permanent as it is anchored to the teeth on one or both sides of the missing tooth. If looked after well they can last up to 10 or 15 years.
Crowns: Crowns (also known as caps) can be used to rebuild or strengthen heavily filled or missing teeth. It is either a bonded metal and porcelain material or a completely porcelain cover that is made to match the colour of and shape of your own tooth.
Veneers: A veneer is a fine facing made of porcelain to improve the colour and appearance of a previously damaged tooth.
White Fillings: A composite filling material which is colour matched to your natural tooth colour.
Inlays: A pre-constructed porcelain filling colour matched to your natural tooth colour.
Dentures: Dentures are removable replacements for missing teeth, a partial denture replaces a few missing teeth, a full denture will be used if all teeth are missing.
Teeth Whitening: Teeth whitening can be a highly effective way of lightening the natural colour of your teeth without removing any of the tooth surfaces. We use a tray system which is like a gum shield made to fit your teeth, used with a bleaching solution. The procedure is performed at home and usually takes about 2 weeks depending on the frequency of use and the end colour you would like to achieve.
Sports Mouthguards
Tailor made sports mouthguards available in a range of colours. These are very useful to prevent trauma to the teeth in many contact sports.
Oral Health Products
We stock a wide range of oral health products available for purchase at competitive prices, to aid looking after your teeth.
